What to send
When you write a letter to your sponsored child, you may want to also send a little something extra too.
Your sponsored child would love to see you, so why not send a picture of yourself? Please be sensitive to the child’s needs though – don’t send photos of you and the family eating your Christmas meal – as this could provoke jealousy.
Like any child, sponsored children get so excited to receive a gift through the post – and they’ll usually share their few possessions with their brothers, sisters and friends. Bear in mind your child’s age and whether they’re a boy or a girl. If you ever do think of sending a gift, here are a few popular suggestions – and remember it needs to fit into an A4 envelope:
- Balloons and stickers
- Hairbrush or comb
- Crayons, pencils and pens
- Colouring books, snap cards or a small jigsaw
- Finger puppets or a rag doll.
If you would like to send money to your child and their family, our Supporter Care Team can arrange this for you (please don’t send the money directly) – just call the team on 01908 84 10 10. Your gift – also known as a Gift Notification - needs to be £75 or more as there’s quite a lot of work involved getting it to your child’s family. They will then agree with our staff what the money will be spent on, and you will receive a letter and photos back from your child within a few months time
